I established BeYou Fitness in 2019 and have 13 years of personal training and group training experience.
I competed and trained at Lakeshore Taekwondo Academy in 2012 to 2013. Loved the class and community, but wanted to do weight training. I joined a local crossfit gym in Grand Haven , Michigan. Fell in love with weight training and committed to make this a part of my life permanently. She did an apprenticeship at Crossfit Unsalted for 6 months and received certification.
Teached part time and competed at several competitions and placed 1st place at the Crossfit Unsalted Games; 2014 placed 4th in the group division at Grand Rapids 8th Day Crossfit Games; and 2015 competed again at the Grand Rapids 8th Day Crossfit Games and placed 2nd in the group division.
In 2016, I decided to pursue Olympic lifting and made this my main focus. I worked with coach Dave Peterson, who has been part of the USAW since the 1970’s. I was able to learn firsthand from an expert in the sport.
I trained hard for months and competed in my first Olympic Lifting meet at the Spartan Open. I placed enough with my numbers in the weight class I was in that I could compete at other competitions. I did the Stars, Stripes, and White Lights competition, where I won the most lifted weights overall by a woman. I competed at Lily Weightlifting, located in the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area. I lifted at the Nike National in Michigan as well.
I had to eventually step away from competing for a while , but I still wanted to pursue my passion and help others compete and develop a proper understanding of balanced nutrition. While I was competing, I was working toward certifications to become a full certified personal trainer.
I pursued several certifications through NASM (CEC, CN, CPT) , ACE (CPT), PN Nutrition (Level 1), and Pinnacle Performance (biomechanics) while building up my skills for coaching and gaining more experience that led to opening up my own weight training studio. BeYou Fitness in March 2019. We have been building moments ever since. Come join our community and learn weightlifting from an experienced coach who will support you every step of the way.
